May 10th 2008 Cumbria Inservice Training Day MEDITATION May 23rd - 26th 2008 Bank Holiday course at Samye Ling on 'Training to teach Mindfulness' led by Rob Nairn and assisted by Sarah Lionheart and Clives Holmes. contact Samye Ling reception@samyeling.org Retreat in June 2008 (info below) is now being combined with retreat in Sept on Holy Island, Sept 9-15th 2008. June retreat is no longer happening in June. 'Healing the Mind and Discovering Happiness'
Sarah Lionheart has been training in mindfulness since 1985 having trained in the Christian tradition and Hindu tradition (as a novice nun in each). She is now married with children and trains and teaches in the Karma Kagyu Lineae of Tibetan Buddhism. Sarah is also a recognised senior teacher of the British Wheel of Yoga. For the exercises that Sarah is teaching during this course, useful companion books would be Diamond Mind by Rob Nairn, Meditation for Beginners by Jack Kornfield, The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing yourself from Chronic Unhappiness by Williams J. Marks et all. The automatic and habitual patterns of the mind that we shall be looking at and learning about afflict virtually all of us until we learn to come to grips with them. You may simply want to learn more about your mind and your interior landscape and develop skills that increase your feeling of well being even when things get really tough. If you do suffer from depression it is best to wait til the worst is over before coming on a course like this as it is very difficult to engage in the practices when in the full grip of acute or chronic depression. Of course many people coming on the course will simply be wishing to learn methods to increase their level of happiness in life. Whatever your reasons for learning midfulness skills please contact the course tutor, Sarah Lionheart, for details. ![]() |
